Marco Gilli has been Chair of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo since 2024. From 2019 to 2024, he served as the Scientific Attaché (Science & Technology Counselor) at the Italian Embassy in the USA.

Currently, he is a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin. Between 2002 and 2003, Gilli first served as Assistant Dean and subsequently as Deputy Dean until 2005, when he was appointed Deputy Rector. In 2012, he became Rector, a role he held until 2018.

He has been a Fellow of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) since 2000 and has led various national and international projects. As Rector, he was responsible for partnership agreements in training, research, and technology transfer with around 40 leading companies in the manufacturing, energy (including ENEL, ENI, TERNA, EDF, and State Grid China), and Information Technology sectors.

During his tenure as Rector, Gilli also oversaw over 100 international agreements with prestigious technological universities worldwide, including UC Berkeley and MIT. Additionally, he established 11 Interdepartmental Centres at the Polytechnic of Turin, modeled after those at MIT, UC Berkeley, and EPFL, focusing on strategic sectors such as Big Data, Machine Learning, Additive Manufacturing, Mobility, Energy, and Health Technologies.

Since 1990, Marco Gilli has authored or co-authored over 200 publications in international scientific journals and conferences. He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the CSF Foundation since April 2025.
