Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, an Italian diplomat and public official, holds a degree in Political Science from LUISS University in Rome and began her diplomatic career in 1985. Over the years, she has held positions in Italian embassies and permanent missions in Vienna and Bratislava, as well as in various departments of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2004 to 2008, she served as Head of the Crisis Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2008 to 2012, she was Director General for Development Cooperation, and from 2013 to 2015, Director General for Resources and Innovation.

Appointed to the rank of Ambassador in 2014, she became Chief of Staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 2015, and from 2016 to 2021, she served as Secretary General of the same ministry.

In 2017, she was awarded the title of Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Since May 2021, she has been the Director of DIS (Department of Information for Security), becoming the first woman in Italy to lead the coordination of the Italian intelligence services.
She has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the CSF Foundation since June 2025.
